Why This Role Matters
This is not a conventional HR leadership position. As Director of HR, you will architect how Smartcat builds, evaluates, and scales high-performing teams in an AI-native environment. Your core focus will be increasing Talent Density—ensuring the organization has the right people, in the right roles, delivering measurable impact.
You will lead a modern, AI-first People Operations function, driving smarter hiring, stronger performance management, and data-backed talent decisions across a globally distributed workforce.
Mission
Reporting to the VP of People, your mission is to elevate talent quality and organizational performance by modernizing how Smartcat assesses, develops, and manages its people.
You will:
- Establish clear, objective performance expectations
- Drive data-informed talent decisions
- Improve hiring, onboarding, and retention of top performers
- Actively manage performance across all levels, especially mid-tier talent
- Oversee global People Operations across 30+ countries
Key Outcomes
- Redesign talent reviews into an AI-first, data-driven system
- Embed AI into PeopleOps processes to improve efficiency and employee experience
- Act as a strategic partner to leadership, linking people metrics to business outcomes
- Strengthen performance management frameworks and accountability
- Lead HR operations, policies, and employee relations globally
30–60–90 Day Impact
First 30 Days:
- Assess current talent density and performance systems
- Master HR tools and global operations
- Present a strategic roadmap to leadership
By Day 60:
- Launch improved talent review frameworks
- Begin talent evaluations with leadership
- Take ownership of HR escalations
By Day 90:
- Implement AI-driven PeopleOps improvements
- Deliver a 12-month people strategy
- Establish yourself as a trusted business partner
